Jeep Life

“The phase “It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand” couldn’t explain it any better.  Three years ago, my husband declared that he wanted a Jeep. Having never owned a Jeep before I was 100% against this idea.  I declared “you don’t need another toy!” For several weeks on my way home from work, I passed a green TJ on the side of the road for sale. I have no idea what made me do it, but one day I came home and said we should go look at it. At that point, I gave the green light to the purchase of a Jeep and I didn’t even know it. The next thing I know we are driving 2 hours to go look at a Jeep. The moment I saw Frankenstein, I knew he would be ours. He was a mess – 6” lift, 1” body, LS1 engine swap and he ran horrible. My husband walked away from him and when we got home I sat him down to convince him why he had to buy this Jeep. We ended up purchasing Frankenstein and for the next 2 years, my husband brought that Jeep to life.  He dropped a supercharger into him and fixed all his other issues.  Yet, I still didn’t understand the Jeep thing.”

“Fast forward to early summer of 2016, my husband finally found a Jeep club he wanted to join. Again, I thought this was a dumb idea but I am a loving and supportive wife so I went along with him. After attending a meet and greet, I fell in love with the people and all things Jeep. I don’t know what it was, but I met the best people on the face of this earth and I also fell in love with Jeep.”

“Now, Frankenstein is a monster, and he doesn’t travel well driving on the road, so in July of 2016 I decided that I needed a Jeep of my own. One we could take to all the meet and greets, events that were far away and Jeep nights. This Jeep will also come “home” with me when I retire. So, I ordered Sassy, my 2016 Rubicon. The fine salesperson I was dealing with told me I would have her in two weeks because she knew someone at the plant and could pull her forward. I was ecstatic! I was going to be able to take her to the next event and not miss out. Well, two weeks came and went and I started to get upset. I didn’t have anything to drive to upcoming events. So, what’s a girl to do? Well, Craig’s List just so happened to show me a Jeep for sale that was right down the road from me.   I went and looked at Scar and knew this Jeep was going to be third in line for our Jeep throne and I would love him dearly.”

“So three years ago, I wanted nothing to do with my husband’s Jeep and now we own three. Why? Because the lifestyle, because the Jeeples, because Jeep! I can’t explain how happy wheeling makes me. I can’t explain how happy I am to spend every weekend with my friends! I can’t explain how happy I am to be part of a family that gives back to charities! So now I get it, I understand, it is a Jeep thing and there is nothing like it in the world!” Photo & Story from Jennifer Tomko
